A message from the president
2020 was a year like no other and I am beyond proud of how our colleagues throughout the HCA Healthcare Far West Division rose to the challenge, caring for more than 1.2 million patients during a global pandemic. From caring for our sickest patients to celebrating the joy of birthing new lives, we are reminded how vital health and well-being is to the communities we serve throughout our Las Vegas, San Jose and Southern California markets.
Access close to home
To meet the evolving needs of our communities, we offer multiple access points including hospitals, free-standing emergency rooms, trauma centers, urgent care clinics, and outpatient surgery centers, delivering top-notch care by exceptional physicians.
HCA Healthcare Far West Division hospitals have received more than 90 recognitions for patient safety and quality care from organizations such as HealthgradesTM and Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades. These rankings reflect our ongoing commitment to high standards in patient safety and quality, all while training the next generation of physicians. All of our hospitals are accredited by The Joint Commission – nationally recognized as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards.
Centers of excellence
In addition, all of our hospitals are certified Stroke Centers and we have the only Accredited Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities in the state of Nevada.
Our accredited Grossman Burn Center at West Hills Hospital is globally recognized and can provide care for up 22 patients while The Pavilion at Southern Hills Hospital in Las Vegas can provide care for up to 80 behavioral health patients.
To have and maintain three certified American College of Surgeons’ Level II Trauma Centers within our family of hospitals illustrates our readiness and expertise in the treatment of traumatic injuries and life-threatening conditions.
Being part of the national HCA Healthcare system means we offer leading-edge scientific and technological advancements including surgical robots to help our patients’ healing experience.
We employee more than 16,000 colleagues who are the heart and soul of our organization and reflect the culturally-rich populations we serve.
Together with more than 4,200 active physicians – many of whom are nationally renowned leaders in their respective fields – we provide world-class care for our patients and champion the practice of medicine for a healthier world. As a learning organization, we recognize a healthy tomorrow relies on educating future physicians. HCA Far West Division is proud to offer 28 physician residency and fellowship programs which help expand physician expertise and provide a higher quality of care to the patients we serve.
Expanded access to care
We started the new year off by expanding access to our healthcare system to communities in Southern Nevada. Our agreement with Health Plan of Nevada/Sierra Health & Life and Sierra Health-Care Options allows more than 250,000 of their members to access in-network health services at HCA Healthcare Sunrise Health System hospitals, including Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, Sunrise Children’s Hospital, MountainView Hospital, and Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center. In addition to hospital access, this agreement opens up access to 17 CareNow Urgent Care facilities, four surgery centers and two free-standing emergency rooms. Our mission guides our actions every single day. And as we reflect on the enormity of the past year and look towards a brighter future, our shared humanity has strengthened the bonds with the communities we serve. Now, more than ever, we are inspired to deliver care to every patient just like we would a family member, because they are family.
Join me in recognizing our shared journey: by standing together we can now create healthier tomorrows stronger than ever.
Brian Cook, President
